Much has changed in the creative communications landscape since I started my headhunting business in 1993, but the need to attract and retain transformational leaders and senior talent has never been so integral to delivering sustainable commercial success. The Talent Business now has hubs in London, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai and Sao Paulo, and has established itself as the world leader in executive search for creative businesses. We provide leaders and emerging stars to all of the major marketing communications groups and networks, as well as most of the independent operations. We also partner a number of creatively driven client-side organisations. As Global CEO, I have first-hand experience of identifying and securing transformational leaders – globally and in the key markets around the world. I also work with agency groups on their acquisition strategies, and advise brand owners on the selection of agency partners.
With my background as a dancer, I spent most of my time choreographing and directing in the theatre whilst studying at university in the UK and the States. I built my career initially in advertising as an account man at Lowe Howard-Spink, a Partner at HHCL and finally as part of the London management team at RKCR Y&R. I joined The Talent Business as the London Managing Director in 2007 and have since helped to build our unparalleled global creative offering - working closely with the creative teams across all our key offices. The Talent Business now has hubs in London, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai and Sao Paulo, and has established itself as the world leader in executive search for creative businesses. I have a real passion for brilliant ideas and have been lucky enough in my career to have worked with some of the best creatives in the industry on famous, award-winning campaigns for brands like Stella Artois, Pot Noodle and M&S. An avid collector of contemporary art, I love being around talented, imaginative people and their work. I am also passionate about helping great creatives to become great leaders through my work as an NCP accredited Executive Coach.
My creative debut was early as the 6-week old screaming model for a Delrosa syrup print campaign. Dad was an art director helping out a mate and it paid for my stroller. An agency career was the natural choice for me. As a business director at both TBWA and JWT, I championed the creative agenda and helped deliver award winning work for some iconic brands. My most memorable moments include a trip to Wonderbra in Rome with Trevor Beattie when Trevor diverted the taxi so we could glimpse a beautiful baroque church. It was a lesson to always make the space for creative inspiration. Trevor taught me to always be open, to have the courage to share your ideas and to stand by them. Watching him I learnt that you have to be prepared to fight for great work knowing that sometimes you will get a bloody nose in the process. I’ve worked on both sides of the Atlantic and partnered with a number of global brands. Chivas Regal proved to be a masterclass in the search for a unifying truth (there is common ground between a Korean businessman and a Venice beach surfer). My time working with Rimmel demonstrated that no brand is beyond repair (thank you Ms Moss and David Sims). My fascination with the eclectic mix of talent that defines creative businesses is what drove my career segue into executive search. My focus is delivering transformational creative leaders and senior talent to a broad range of creative businesses across North America. Manhattan is home and if you're buying, mine's a 1942 tequila no ice.
I began my career in Account Management at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners San Francisco and BBH New York, working across Unilever, U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Chevrolet, Hewlett Packard, spirits and more. Innately curious about people, places and culture, I’ve always felt at home in creative companies – and knew the ultimate goal was finding my way into the people part of the business. The past few years, I’ve expanded my recruiting expertise and bring a wealth of industry knowledge to The Talent Business. By listening to where our clients and candidates have been, and where they aspire to go, I strive to pair each with the genuine best-fitting talent or opportunity. I grew up in small-town Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. You’ll find me jogging in the park, watching a documentary or chasing sunshine
The Martin Agency kicked off my strategy education, and I didn't look back for 14 years as I experienced and learned from all philosophies of strategy and creativity at The Integer Group, Leo Burnett, Blast Radius, Egg Strategy, Sylvain Labs, R/GA, T3 and Fortune 500 brands such as Coca-Cola, General Motors, Procter &Gamble, McDonald's, UPS and GEICO. I’m able to leverage my passion for people, culture, organizations, business, brands, psychology, anthropology and sociology in my role at The Talent Business, partnering strategic talent in the US and beyond. My life outside work is fulfilled by joy of food, my husband and two pups in Brooklyn, traveling, and being involved with all things books and music.
Born and raised in the woods of New England, I began my journey to New York to follow my dream of becoming a professional playwright. In addition to my own creative endeavours, I immersed myself in all things talent and advertising after finding my home at The Talent Business. I’m innately curious about people and culture, and I have found working as a playwright has given me a passion to support the careers of creative talent. I seek out transformative creative leaders, and genuinely care about helping my talent find their way to the right opportunity. When I’m not in the office, you can find me drinking copious amounts of caffeinated beverages whilst furiously writing award winning plays that have been produced and published all over the world.
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, I’ve worked in advertising shops up and down the East Coast. I graduated from The University of Georgia and went on to portfolio school at The Creative Circus in Atlanta. From there, I spent the early part of my career as a copywriter working at MullenLowe and Grey New York, producing national and global campaigns for SunTrust, TRESemmé, Men’s Wearhouse, The Virginia Lottery, Pantene and more. I also tried my hand at teaching part time at Virginia Commonwealth University and Miami Ad School where I discovered a passion for helping others network within the industry. Prior to joining The Talent Business, I worked in recruiting at R/GA where I focused on building cultural diversity and fostering strong relationships with prospective talent. Outside of work, I enjoy any kind of exercise, interior design and spending time with my boyfriend and our Puggle puppy.
Born and raised in Australia, I began my career in publishing at Weldon Owen, working my way from an entry-level receptionist to an assistant editor. My experience in publishing inspired me to study literature at the University of New South Wales, and whilst there I began working in hospitality management as the assistant to the General Manager of 5 successful Sydney-based hotels, after honing my interpersonal and business management skills, I moved into a management role at one of Sydney’s top tourist spots. There I was responsible for all aspects of management, from recruiting to accounting, a 24-hour job during an especially high-profile, busy time - the 2000 Summer Olympics. After a few years, my sense of adventure brought me to New York City. Prior to joining TTB I tried my hand at retail management, primarily for the downtown New York-based design label Some Odd Rubies. When I’m not at work you can catch me riding around the city on my custom-tailored bicycle with my husband and young son.
Born and raised in South Africa I developed an early interest in acting and the diverse cultures and personalities around the world, which was fuelled by formative time spent in Austria and Israel. After immigrating to the US in the late 90's, I pursued my acting career which led me to Boston for school and eventually London, where I graduated from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). My management experience ranges from the luxurious to the culinary in London and New York City. When I'm not at work, I'm training to run my tenth consecutive New York City Marathon, or spending time with my dog. I live in Brooklyn with her and my partner.
I’m an international brand builder and digitally minded creative leader known for cultivating audience growth, driving product and digital media innovation, and building cultural relevance across a broad range of enterprises. My previous roles included EVP/Global CMO at Thomson Reuters and EVP Marketing at ESPN. At The Talent Business I’m bringing my experience as a CMO, tech investor and advisor to re-enforce the leadership and partnership we provide in successfully matching top global creative executives with emerging ‘new establishment’ businesses. The Talent Business has access to a truly international pool of experienced, proven creative innovators and is filling a much needed gap in the US based recruiting space.
Having completed a Law degree, I took a junior role in a publishing business whilst deciding on the career direction I wanted to take. It was a unique time, when the first wave of digital businesses were starting to establish themselves, causing immediate and significant changes across entire industries and generating a need for innovative talent, which has never dissipated. I was approached to join what was the first specialist, digital recruitment business and found myself helping to structure and staff the nascent UK teams of the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, AOL, eBay, as well as the first digital creative and communications agencies. Nurturing, advising and helping to choreograph talent, both within and for the creative sector has been part of my career ever since. In that time, I’ve built and lead cross-functional talent acquisition teams, lead staffing and talent strategy for leading digital/creative agencies - most recently AKQA. I also ran my own consultancy business, focused on helping clients to digitise structure, talent and output. The key to the sustained success of so many companies is the alignment of transformational talent with business and growth strategy - and I continue to find it a pleasure and privilege to advise and partner with stand-out people and great businesses in order to help both realise their ambitions. The Talent Business now has hubs in London, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai and Sao Paulo, and has established itself as the world leader in executive search for creative businesses so is perfectly placed for me to do this. My other passions are sports - particularly skiing/squash/running, watching Arsenal and being a dad.
I completed a Degree in Business Management in Sydney, Australia, and then travelled through South East Asia and Europe to London. I worked in account management for six years at leading digital agencies in London, latterly as a group account director. I then moved to Dubai UAE as client services director of MENA’s largest agency network, Proximity, part of the Omnicom Group. I spent four years as the digital lead on a number of the region’s best known brands and also set up a successful digital outsourcing production house focused on creative and development capabilities. My love and passion for the tech and media landscape brought me to the West Coast of the US in 2013, initially launching a tech start up platform that services the beauty industry. My drivers are innovation and inspiration, and I believe that you can create a step-change that delivers sustainable business success by ‘thinking different’. Having an appreciation for the brilliance of creative minds in business is what helps me identify true challengers of the status quo. My spare time is spent as a stereotypical ‘Aussie’ – surfing, beaching and travelling.
