As a graduate, I joined the London office of a large network advertising agency at the time, DMB&B, as an account handler on Procter & Gamble, Mars and Coca Cola internationally. Then at Leo Burnett London, I ran Fiat and the UK Government’s Department for Transport account, winning the flagship Drink Drive and Teenage Road Safety business, for which we were privileged enough to win globally acknowledged creative awards. I was promoted to Leo Burnett's Management Board, taking the role of Head of Account Management, running a 75-strong department where my remit included the acquisition and retention of top talent. To further help me fulfil my appreciation of supporting real talent, I have also been responsible for chairing and mentoring a number of the UK’s Institute for Practitioners of Advertising (IPA) training programmes and events. I joined The Talent Business as a Partner in 2007 as Global Head of Talent Search before becoming European Managing Director. In 2011, I launched TTB’s European “client side” marketing executive search practice, driven by the sector agnostic proposition of innovation leadership for sustainable commercial impact. The Talent Business now has hubs in London, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, Shanghai, Dubai and Sao Paulo, and has established itself as the world leader in executive search for creative businesses. In growing this practice globally, working with A list global brand owners across every imaginable marketing leadership assignment, I now spend time balancing global business with family time with my husband and two children in London.
I started my career in magazine publishing, working across editorial and sales on a range of key titles for MacMillan. My avid interest in the media and entertainment industries led me to embark on a career recruiting for TV, music, tech and publishing businesses at a boutique agency, heading up its Marketing and eCommerce division and managing key accounts including Google, Penguin Random House and Universal Music. I have been focused on executive search, hiring marketing and eCommerce leaders into consumer tech start-ups across the UK and Europe. Joining The Talent Business as a Partner within our Marketing Practice has allowed me to consolidate this experience alongside a continued fascination with creative businesses. Away from the office, music is my all consuming passion, but I occasionally allow for comedy, film or art to take centre stage when the mood dictates.
My fascination for marketing started whilst I was at school and had the chance to do a work placement at a local ad agency. After graduating from university in Leeds, I went into account management, working with The Daily Mail, American Express and Bosch, and handling new business. I learnt now redundant information about the print and TV process, but thankfully also learnt the importance of brands, ROI and exploring the then relatively new ‘internet’ for our clients. Since moving into headhunting ten years ago, I have launched a successful start-up recruitment business and worked as an independent consultant advising agencies, client side organisations and production companies on the digital re-engineering of their production capability and how to secure the talent required to deliver their offering. Outside of work I’m sports mad. Due to football injuries and age, I retired my playing days and took up cycling instead. I get my football fix at weekends as a shareholder and season ticket holder at non-league, Tonbridge Angels Football Club. I’m also married and a father to two wonderful boys. I joined The Talent Business as a canvas to provide senior operations and delivery talent, for client side, agency side and production businesses globally.
After graduating from University College London I indulged my passion for theatre and dance at drama school. My career in Executive Search began at The Willis Partnership in 2004 where I quickly became a Researcher before joining the Executive Search team at Robert Walters as Research Principal and later True North Human Capital as Head of Research. I have enjoyed working both in the United Kingdom and internationally, across a broad range of sectors including Digital, Media and Financial Services. The Talent Business’s understanding of what an important step changing role is in an individual’s life, both personally and professionally, together with the emphasis on long-term relationships rather than short-term wins, makes it an exciting and rewarding company to work for. I enjoy writing and making short films in my spare time.
After graduating from RMIT University in 2011 with a degree in Media and Communication, I moved from Melbourne to London initially for a six month working holiday. Five years and a few office jobs later I’m a fully-fledged member of the Marketing and Media Practice here at TTB. After spending two years in a start-up content agency in Shoreditch I found myself wanting to combine my industry knowledge with something more people orientated. My role at TTB allows me to do just that as well as working in a really dynamic and enriching work environment. When I’m not at work I’m editing, producing and presenting a podcast and live radio, producing new writing and theatre, listening and dancing at gigs, drinking the newest craft beers and trying to not think about the weather in Melbourne.
